Pineapple Residue Ash Reduces Carbon Dioxide and Nitrous Oxide Emissions in Pineapple Cultivation on Tropical Peat Soils at Saratok, Malaysia

چکیده

Burning pineapple residues on peat soils before replanting raises concerns hazards of fires. A study was conducted to determine whether ash produced from could be used minimize carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions in cultivated tropical peatlands. The effects residue fertilization CO2 N2O a soil grown with were determined using closed chamber method the following treatments: (i) 25, 50, 70, 100% suggested rate + NPK fertilizer, (ii) (iii) only. Soils treated (25%) decreased relative without due adsorption organic compounds, ammonium, nitrate ions onto charged surface through hydrogen bonding. ability maintain higher pH during growth primarily contributed low emissions. Co-application compound fertilizer also improves ammonium availability, fruit quality pineapples. Compound fertilizers can amended reducing productivity.

Partitioning Carbon Dioxide Emission and Assessing Dissolved Organic Carbon Leaching of a Drained Peatland Cultivated with Pineapple at Saratok, Malaysia

Pineapples (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) cultivation on drained peats could affect the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere and also the leaching of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). Carbon dioxide emission needs to be partitioned before deciding on whether cultivated peat is net sink or net source of carbon. Partitioning of CO2 emission into root respiration, microbial respiration, ...

Effects of manure and cultivation on carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide emissions from a corn field under Mediterranean conditions.

The use of organic residues as soil additives is increasing, but, depending on their composition and application methods, these organic amendments can stimulate the emissions of CO(2) and N(2)O. The objective of this study was to quantify the effects of management practices in irrigated sweet corn (Zea mays L.) on CO(2) and N(2)O emissions and to relate emissions to environmental factors. In a ...

Nitrous oxide emissions from tropical hydroelectric reservoirs

[1] We report original data on nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from two tropical reservoirs, their rivers below the dam, and from natural aquatic ecosystems and rainforest soils in French Guiana and Panama. We also review published N2O fluxes from other tropical reservoirs and natural environments. We show that: (1) N2O emissions from tropical reservoirs occur mainly at the reservoir surface, fluxes...

Soil electrical conductivity and water content affect nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide emissions in intensively managed soils.

Accumulation of soluble salts resulting from fertilizer N may affect microbial production of N(2)O and CO(2) in soils. This study was conducted to determine the effects of electrical conductivity (EC) and water content on N(2)O and CO(2) production in five soils under intensive cropping. Surface soils from maize fields were washed, repacked and brought to 60% or 90% water-filled pore space (WFP...
